Po przeczytaniu „Wyspy” Adriana McKinty mogę zgodzić się z innymi czytelnikami, że nie sposób się od niej oderwać. Fabuła ani na chwilę nie zwalnia, a zaskakujące zwroty akcji co chwilę zmieniają perspektywę na zakończenie niebezpiecznej wycieczki.

„Wyspa” przenosi nas do gorącej i egzotycznej Australii. To miejsce idealne na wakacje. Takie też miało być dla Heather i jej rodziny. Niestety podróż na prywatną wyspę, która miała obfitować w fantastyczne selfie z koalami, zmieniła się w piekło. Za sprawą źle podjętych decyzji, Heather, jej mąż oraz dzieci z pierwszego małżeństwa mężczyzny stają się żywym celem dla nieobliczalnego klanu O’Neillów. Czy uda im się uciec z wyjętej spod prawa wyspy? Przekonajcie się sami.

Z pewnością nie będziecie mieć problemu z szybkim poznaniem zakończenia, bo książkę czyta się w tempie ekspresowym. Każdy kolejny rozdział nakręca akcję, budując napięcie. W głowie podczas lektury miałam tylko jedną myśl – uciekaj! Wszystko przez to, że żeby przeżyć, Heather i dzieciaki nie mogą dać się złapać. Planowanie, podejmowanie ciężkich decyzji i walka to wszystko, przez co przechodzą niepożądani turyści wyspy. Podczas szybkiej akcji i próby desperackiej ucieczki obserwujemy również zmianę w bohaterach. Każdy z nich wykorzystuje umiejętności i wiedzę, jaką dotychczas zdobył. Ponadto dzieci i ich nielubiana macocha muszą zacząć współpracować, a nie jest łatwo przebić zbudowany mur niechęci. 

Czytając „Wyspę” czułam się jak na seansie filmowym. Przed oczami miałam dziką przyrodę Australii, niebezpieczną ucieczkę i szaleńczych O’Neillów, których moja wyobraźnia ubrała w kraciastą koszulę i widły z bronią w ręku. Autor zafundował nam również niebanalne zakończenie. Końcowe sceny ryzykownej przeprawy i osobiste wyznania bohaterów podnoszą adrenalinę. Jedyne czego mi tu zabrakło to ostatecznej konfrontacji. Chciałabym wyobrazić sobie minę seniorki rodu w innej rzeczywistości, w której to nie ona rządzi. Niestety przeskok miejsca trochę mnie rozczarował, ale mimo to uważam, że książka jest świetna. Polecam
