Po przeczytaniu „Smyczy” Roberta Kudusa mam mieszane uczucia co do tej pozycji.
Na początku książka wydaje się łatwą, ale to tylko początkowa iluzja. Im więcej kilometrów mają za sobą bohaterowie, tym jest coraz trudniej. Zaczynają się dyskusje i rozważania na już nie błahe tematy, a książka zaczyna pod osłoną występujących osób i ich życiowych historii poruszać ważne problemy. Nałóg, bieda, odmienność, ograniczenia, konwenanse i kontrola — wydaje mi się, że właśnie to według autora może być tytułową smyczą. A może to tylko moja nadinterpretacja.
Trochę sobie o tym wszystkim myślałam, ponieważ najgorsze, ale może i najlepsze jest zakończenie książki. Niby niewiele się wyjaśnia, przez co miałam wrażenie, że książka nie ma sensu. Jednak gdy już skończyłam czytać, to opowiedziana tu historia nie dawała mi spokoju. Ciągle chodziła mi po głowie, przez co wpadałam na kolejne pomysły odnośnie do niektórych wątków. Próbowałam sobie to poustawiać i ułożyć po swojemu. Jeżeli autor chciał osiągnąć taki efekt, to muszę powiedzieć, że mu się to udało. Jestem już kilka dni po lekturze a „Smycz” niczym echo odbija się gdzieś z tyłu mojej głowy.
Jak mi się czytało książkę? Momentami lepiej, momentami gorzej. Pierwsza połowa wciągnęła mnie. Zaciekawiła mnie postać pana Artura (niczym dobry wujek opowiada swojemu kompanowi, gdzie nie był, kogo nie poznał i czego nie robił), który poszukuje swojej córki oraz postać mało rozmownego Tomasza. To dwie skrajne osobowości, które na pierwszy rzut oka do siebie w ogóle nie pasują. Panowie spotykają się przypadkowo na mroźnej, ośnieżonej drodze i jadą we wspólną podróż, która wcale nie kończy się u jej celu.
Zaciekawienie opuściło mnie, kiedy podróżnicy dotarli do miasta, które obrali sobie za cel podróży. Trochę męczyły mnie wywody pana Artura, głównie dlatego, że cały czas powtarzał to samo. Szybko domyśliłam się, co mogło się stać z córką kierowcy, dlatego nie czułam już takiego zaciekawienia. Aura tajemniczości opadła, a zastąpiły ją rozważania.
Jeśli chodzi o zakończenie, to na początku mnie rozczarowało, jednak teraz już nie jestem tego taka pewna. To niedopowiedzenie i pozostawienie możliwości stawiania teorii wydaje mi się całkiem dobrym pomysłem. W końcu to pozycja, która ma dawać do myślenia.
Książka nie jest łatwa w odbiorze. „Smycz” powinna przypaść do gustu tym, którzy preferują książki absorbujące, skłaniające do rozważań. Opowieść wzbudzała u mnie różne odczucia, ale nie żałuję, że ją przeczytałam. Czasem dobrze jest sięgnąć po książkę, która nie jest łatwa i szybko nie daje o sobie zapomnieć.
