„(Nie)piękność” ma intrygujący tytuł oraz przyciągającą wzrok okładkę. To właśnie te dwie rzeczy zachęciły mnie do przeczytania powieści Nataszy Sochy. 🌺

Bohaterkami tej historii są dwie kobiety, będące sąsiadkami. Nasturcja i Paulina są swoimi przeciwieństwami. 👭

Nasturcja to dwudziestoośmiolatka, która sama o sobie mówi, że jest brzydka. Nie lubi swojego wyglądu, dlatego w domu nie ma żadnych luster. Ubiera wciąż te same ciemne swetry, aby być niewidoczną. Dziewczyna ma problemy w nawiązaniu kontaktu z drugą osobą, ponieważ uważa, że wszyscy ludzie wokoło brzydzą się jej wyglądu. Nasturcja cały czas narzeka, że jest brzydka, że nikomu się nie podoba i że nikt jej nie pokocha. Mimo to nic nie robi ze swoim wyglądem. Jej ciągle użalanie się nad sobą jest depresyjne i męczące. Nie próbuje o siebie zadbać, nie maluje się, na dodatek sama na oślep obcina sobie włosy.

Natomiast Paulina to dojrzała kobieta, która jest chodzącą pięknością. Jej wygląd jest perfekcyjny. Poświęca wiele czasu i pieniędzy, aby podobać się sobie, a w szczególności innym. Nie ma chwili, żeby nie myślała o tym, jak wygląda. Ta piękność to chodzący poradnik dla kobiet, z głowy recytuje porady dotyczące urody oraz ciekawostki na temat kobiecego piękna. Choć jest marzeniem każdego mężczyzny, Paulina nie jest szczęśliwa.

Tematem przewodnim książki jest piękno i brzydota, przewija się on w rozmowach oraz rozmyślaniach naszych bohaterek. Cała książka to pewnego rodzaju debata na ten temat. Pełno tu dyskusji dotyczących tego, co wpisuje się w definicję piękna. Po co chcemy być piękni? Jak współczesny świat wymaga od nas dążenia do ideału, a także, dlaczego ludzie nie lubią brzydoty? Wypowiedzi kobiet brzmią, jakby były czytane z książek, sprawia to wrażenie sztuczności.

Książka porusza ważny problem urody. Moim zdaniem najważniejsze jest to, żeby samemu się sobie podobać i być szczęśliwym. We wszystkim należy zachować umiar i zdrowy rozsądek. 🙂

„(Nie)piękność” niezbyt przypadła mi do gustu. Zdecydowanie wolę czytać lekturę, gdzie coś się dzieje. Lubię wciągającą fabułę i ciekawą akcję. Drugi raz nie sięgnęłabym po tę książkę.
