Ta książka jest po prostu genialna. Świetne postacie, fabuła, pomysł i fantastyczny klimat. „Gabinet z widokiem na może” Ludwika Lorena to dla mnie pozytywne zaskoczenie. Spodziewałam się fantastyki dla nastolatków, a dostałam nietuzinkową historię dla dorosłych.

Bohaterami książki są dwunastoletni chłopcy uczący się w elitarnej szkole Schuyler Palace. Chłopcy zachęceni opowieściami starszych roczników postanawiają odnaleźć legendarny dąb, by wyryć na nim swe nazwiska. Jednak podczas wyprawy do lasu dochodzi do zgoła innego odkrycia. Poszukiwacze odnajdują podziemne katakumby, tajemniczy grób i stos dziecięcych szkieletów. Młodzi dorośli postanawiają rozwikłać zagadkę mrocznego grobu, która powiązana jest w jakiś sposób z ich szkołą. Poszukiwanie odpowiedzi staje się dość trudne, bo wokół zaczynają dziać się dziwne i niewytłumaczalne rzeczy.

Nie myślcie, że skoro bohaterami są dzieci, to będzie pięknie i kolorowo. W szkole poleje się krew, nie jedna osoba zginie. To, że Jimmy i jego ekipa są chłopcami wkraczającymi w dorosłość to moim zdaniem świetny pomysł. Sami o sobie mówią, że nie są już dziećmi, że są dorośli. I faktycznie przysłuchując się ich rozmowom, myślom oraz podpatrując ich zachowanie, nie rozpoznalibyśmy, że to dzieci. Wydaje mi się, że to chyba specjalny zabieg, a jeśli nie, to i tak wyszło genialnie. Kolejnym ogromnej plusem jest narracja, która prowadzona jest w taki sposób, że mimo lekkości nieustannie buduje napięcie. Świetne pióro i wyczucie autora sprawia, że czytanie książki to czysta przyjemność. Do tego wycieczki narratora i smaczki tego, co czeka niektórych naszych bohaterów w przyszłości – bomba! O klimacie tajemniczości już nie wspominając. Ludwik Loren stworzył niepowtarzalną atmosferę, gdzie szkolne mury skrywają straszną, starą tajemnicę.

Te 400 stron czytałam z szeroko otwartymi oczami, mając nadzieję, że to jeszcze nie koniec, bo książka tak wciąga, że nie chce się jej odkładać, a co dopiero kończyć. Do samego końca nie wiadomo, jak potoczą się losy wychowanków elitarnej szkoły Schuyler Palace. To świetna książka, która trafiła w moje gusta. Przypomniała mi emocje i dreszczyk, który towarzyszył mi zawsze podczas oglądania serialu „Czy boisz się ciemności”.

Cieszę się, że miałam okazję przeczytać „Gabinet z widokiem na może”. Z czystym sumieniem polecam, a jeżeli autor pokusi się nową historię w takim klimacie, to jestem pierwsza w kolejce.
